PHYSICAL THERAPY - The focus of physical therapy is to promote restoration of the functional abilities of individuals with physical impairment and limitations. Guided by this focus, physical therapy is tailored to meet the individual needs and goals of each patient.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY - Provides treatment programs for patients based on activity that requires the physical and cognitive involvement of the person whose lives have been disrupted by physical injury/illness, developmental problems, aging process and/or social/emotional difficulties. The goal of occupational therapy is to maximize the functional return to everyday activity.

WARM-WATER AQUATIC THERAPY - The therapeutic use of warm water is one of the oldest and most effective modes of treatment for persons with physical impairments. The pool is maintained at a temperature of 92-94 degrees Fahrenheit. The air temperature is 86-88 degrees Fahrenheit, with climate-controlled humidity of 45%. It is fully accessible with a wide stairway and Hoyer lift to help physical disabled and impaired individuals enter the water safely.

BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE/PAIN MANAGEMENT - Chronic pain affects approximately 80 million Americans. It is the third-leading cause of disability in the United States, trailing only cancer and heart disease. For those afflicted, pain is a daily experience that may dramatically alter their work and quality of life. Riverside Rehabilitation's program is designed to return the individual with chronic pain or disability to a life-style that is economically and socially productive. The goal is accomplished through intensive, multidisplinary treatment.

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY SERVICES - Riverside offers a speech language pathology program that provides evaluation and treatment for adults who have difficulty with language, articulation, reading, writing, memory, reasoning, processing, socialization, and swallowing abilities.

PULMONARY REHABILITATION PROGRAM - Riverside's Pulmonary program is designed to help patients with chronic respiratory diseases, including but not limited to: asthma, black lung, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, and for patients undergoing lung reduction surgery. Riverside's program is a multidisciplinary program, utilizing the Department of Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Respiratory, Dietary, and Psychology Departments.

NURSING SERVICES - Riverside offers a nursing service program that contributes largely to the rehabilitation of the patient. Riverside's nursing services include; patient education and training, nutritional counseling, monitor blood pressure/pulse rate, monitor all concerns of medications, continuity of care, wound care, diabetes education and monitoring, acts on all emergency situations, and assisting and application of special devices and equipment.

RHEUMATOLOGY - Treatment of arthritis, certain autoimmune diseases, musculoskeletal pain disorders and osteoporosis. There are more than 100 types of diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, fibromylagia and tendonitis. Some of these are very serious diseased that can be difficult to diagnose and treat.

SOCIAL SERVICES - Riverside provides a skilled social service program for the patient and family. The services include assessments and evaluation of environment, psychological, familial, and health factors of the patient.

WOUND CARE PROGRAM - Wounds are a common and frustrating problem. Recent studies show that over 5.6 million chronic wounds are treated annually in the U.S. The majority of wounds are attributed to diabetic complications and circulation. Recent studies show that aggressive treatment and modalities such as special shoes, compression pumps, along with patient education is more effective and less expensive than amputation.
