RIVERSIDE REHABILITATION CENTER

HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY

History of Riverside Rehabilitation

In 1987, Riverside Rehabilitation Center began as a small, independent, freestanding facility located in Plains, Pennsylvania. The program is certified by Medicare, The Pennsylvania Department of Health and is a licensed Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility (CORF). Riverside has also been awarded Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for outpatient medical rehabilitation services.

In early 1997, Arbor Health Care Company owned by Extendicare Health Services Inc., acquired Riverside Rehabilitation Center. Extendicare has grown and expanded to become one of the largest health care networks in the world. Riverside and all outpatient rehabilitation services are a division of the Progressive Step Rehabilitation Services Company.

Riverside Rehabilitation continues to offer solutions to meet the needs and changes that are recurrent in health care. We continually strive for quality in providing care that is small enough to personalize, yet large enough to serve all your needs. In an effort to provide services in a larger geographical area, Riverside has facilities in Plains, Mountaintop, Taylor, Tunkhannock, and in Mount Pocono, Broadheadsville, East Stroudsburg, Berwick, and Moscow. As Riverside continues to grow we will add satelite locations throughout the northeastern region, which will provide the best care at a convenient location for our patients.

Our Philosophy

Riverside utilizes a team approach to treatment that is carefully planned with the patient who becomes the most important member of the team. Riverside's clinical team is staffed by qualified professionals committed to meeting the specific needs of each patient. Each patient is evaluated and a specialized program is designed with the focus of achieving individual goals. The patients' progress is reviewed and reassessed by the team throughout the treatment to provide maximum efficiency and effectiveness. All information is shared with the patient and their referring physician. Riverside's comprehensive team approach to rehabilitation greatly enhances the patient's response to treatment.
